[final performance idea] Knights of Cydonia - Muse

Hey guys! it'll be a dream come true for me if we could perform (an abridged version) of this song for our final! i think the song goes along really well with our epic-greek poetry theme.

The first half of the song could be used as an opening/intro thing for the performance; the chanting during the bridge could be used during the "epic multi-body evil robot fight scene". We could even parody the music video, incorporate scenes into our performance, or perhaps project the video? (i mean come on, cowboys with unicorns and laser pistols?!)

There aren't many lyrics in the song; pretty simple and relevant if you ask me:

Come ride with me
Through the veins of history
I'll show you how god
Falls asleep on the job

And how can we win

When fools can be kings
Don't waste your time
Or time will waste you

No one's gonna take me alive

The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive

I don't know if it's too much trouble/complicated, but here's a possible arrangement:

Will - reduced drums (maybe just a snare + hi-hat, hopefully base drum?)
Adam - trumpet for the opening solo (i'm assuming you can play it haha)
Jacob - double bass
Harry - vocals + acoustic guitar / improv acting
Stephen - vocals / improv acting
Clifton - electric guitar

We should all come in during the "ahhh, ahhh, ahhhh" parts of the song. it's pretty crowd-sing-along worthy.

haha i'll probably perform a section of the song on wednesday, and see what you guys think!

Midterm documentation (kinda)

Here's some video documentation of the mid term performance. Unfortunately, no one was really manning the camera, so although Stephen and Harry's first two scenes are on camera, the rest is off camera.

Image Editing Software

Hey guys,

Sorry for the delay.  Here's a list of a few freeware image editors:

1) GIMP (probably the champion out of all of them, might be a tad confusing to use at first)

2) DrawPlus (Serif put out this free version that is rather intuitive to use, a nice alternative to Gimp if you find GIMP difficult to use)

3) Smooth Draw (if you have a tablet and use that to draw - this is your freeware program)

4) InkScape (heard good things about it, no personal experience though)

This just scratches the surface of what's out there.  If you have an idea of which specific features you are looking for I could produce a more direct list.  If you have any questions or issues, shoot me an email and I can help!

Midterm Performance brainstorming...

Midterm brainstorm from the 2/29 (leap day!) class:

Who:
• 15-20 people, invite a couple of close friends each

What:
• A complete thing, not a work in progress
• Translating/recreating objects + spaces (like the original auditorium exercise)
• Integrate audience (at some point actually doing stuff)
• Stephen's vegetation pieces
• Installation as setting
• Jams, work up ideas from previous/future playing sessions

Where:
• Granoff + environs

When:
• March 21, 7-10pm

Other stuff/ideas:
• can we scale up the intimate pieces? divide audience into groups, cap number at a particular thing at a particular time.
•Stephen's vegetation pieces as a whole room
•Need visual component, video, stills, immersive
•Bagpipes
•audience some how influence jam sessions
•develop out from the classroom
•Clifton's echo-y guitar pedal business
•Have Fun, not pretentious - thanks Cliff

Oh and lately I've got two Davids (Bowie/Lynch) on the brain. How 'bout you?
